MOSCOW. Dec 20 (Interfax) - Russians consider the Defense Ministry, Emergency Situations Ministry, and Federal Security Service (FSB) to be the most efficient security agencies, according to polls, the Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) said.
Russians are the most familiar with and interested in the work of the Defense Ministry (30% said they "know it well" and 68% said they have heard of it), the Emergency Situations Ministry (27% and 70%, respectively), the Interior Ministry (21% and 77%) and are the least familiar with and interested in the Federal Protective Service (8% and 66%), the Foreign Intelligence Service (7% and 79%), and the Russian Guard (11% and 65%).
As for these state agencies' general performance, the Russians gave the highest marks to the Defense Ministry (93% of those who have heard about the agency's work believe it is doing its job), the Emergency Situations Ministry (92%), and the FSB (84%).
They are followed by the Foreign Intelligence Service (75%), the Federal Protective Service (78%), the Federal Penitentiary Service (75%), the Interior Ministry (74%), the Federal Bailiff Service (71%), the Investigative Committee (70%), and the Prosecutor General's Office (70%).
Sixty-two percent of respondents said they want their children to work in law enforcement and security agencies when they grow up (against 53% in 2016). Thirty-three percent said the opposite.
The nationwide poll of 1,800 people was conducted by phone between November 15 and 17.
