MOSCOW. Dec 25 (Interfax) - United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) is preparing to sign contracts with a number of CIS and non-CIS countries, USC chief Alexei Rakhmanov said in an interview with Interfax on Monday.
"This concerns first of all Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan. In addition, India, Indonesia, Iran, Greece, Cuba, Argentina and Paraguay are also within our sphere of interest," Rakhmanov said when asked about the outlook for export orders at USC shipyards.
"I am profoundly convinced that it is vitally important for Russian shipbuilders to compete globally. Only this will make it possible not to lag behind contemporary global trends, take into account contemporary management and technical practices. Otherwise, we will quickly stew ourselves in our own juices and stop being of interest, including to domestic ordering parties," he said.
"Among promising export products, we see a hybrid river-sea vessel, as well as medium tonnage bulk freighters and gas tankers," he said.
"Another important area of cooperation might be construction of oil and gas platforms and floating thermal power plants and nuclear power plants," he said.
