MOSCOW. Jan 10 (Interfax) - Moscow welcomes the understandings reached at the inter-Korean negotiations and expects that both parties will receive support to resume their dialogue, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
"We welcome the agreements reached during the negotiations between representatives of the DPRK and the Republic of Korea in Panmunjom on January 9, including as regards a North Korean delegation's participation in the Olympic Winter Games in South Korea's PyeongChang. We hope their implementation would help de-escalate the tensions on the Korean Peninsula and ensure stability in this sub-region," the ministry said in a commentary circulated on Wednesday.
"We expect that all parties concerned will provide support to the steps taken by North Korea and South Korea to resume dialogue. We are convinced that this is the only possible path in looking for a mutually acceptable solution to the peninsula's problems in a peaceful political-diplomatic way, which our country has always called for," it said.
