DONETSK. Jan 15 (Interfax) - The self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) might impose external management on operations of the mobile operator Vodafone-Ukraine in the territory controlled by the DPR, Alexander Zakharchenko, the DPR head, said in a statement on Monday.
"Kyiv has suspended the Vodafone mobile operator's work in the territory of the Donetsk People's Republic. Hundreds of thousands of our residents have been left without communication with their friends and relatives on the other side of the contact line. However, I'd like to assure you that we will successfully respond to this challenge as well, and relevant measures are already being taken. If need be, we might impose external management on this network," Zakharchenko said in his statement.
"Any attempts to put forcible pressure on the DPR will fail. The only acceptable mechanism for resolving the conflict is the full and strict observance of the Minsk Agreements in the form and order stipulated by the Normandy format members' guarantees. Kyiv has no other way out," Zakharchenko said.
