MOSCOW. Jan 25 (Interfax) - The Moscow City Court has upheld the extension of arrest through March 8 for Dmitry Zakharchenko, former head of the Russian Interior Ministry's anti-corruption department, who is charged with corruption, an Interfax correspondent said on Thursday.
"Uphold the resolution of the Moscow City Court, dismiss the appeal," the court's appeal board said in a ruling read out on Thursday.
Thus, Zakharchenko will remain in custody through March 8.
Charged with accepting bribes and obstructing justice, Zakharchenko has been in custody since September 10, 2016. Investigatory activities on the three counts of criminal activities he is suspected of have by now been completed and Zakharchenko and his defense team are studying investigation files.
Last December, Moscow's Nikulinsky District Court granted the civil claim from the Russian Prosecutor General's Office to confiscate money and other assets from Zakharchenko and his relatives for a total amount of approximately nine billion rubles.
