Russian ambassador says maintains indirect contacts with Kim Jong Un, knows him personally (Part 2)

MOSCOW. Jan 30 (Interfax) - Russian Ambassador to North Korea Alexander Matsegora said he has an opportunity to maintain indirect contacts with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to hand him oral or written messages.

"I know Kim Jong Un personally. True, we met for the first time back in 2010 [Kim has been the supreme leader of North Korea since 2011]," Matsegora said in an interview with Interfax in the run-up to Day of Diplomatic Worker.

"Since my arrival in Pyongyang as ambassador [in December 2014], there have been no face-to-face meetings between us, but there have been indirect contacts to hand oral or written messages and so on," he said.

"Among the DPRK leadership, I communicate with Ri Su Yong, a member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea in charge of foreign policy, and Ri Yong Ho, the minister of foreign affairs. These are my highest ranking partners," he said.
