Lavrov doesn't make tragedy of fact that not all opposition groups participated in Sochi congress

SOCHI. Jan 31 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov does not view the absence of two or three groups of the Syrian opposition from the Syrian National Dialogue Congress in Sochi as a tragedy.

"No one expected that we would be able to gather each and every representative of various groups of the Syrian people, pro-government ones, neutral, independent ones, and the opposition, here. I'm not making a tragedy of the fact that two or three groups were unable to participate," Lavrov told reporters on Tuesday.

"This is the beginning of the process, which is aimed to put the implementation of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2254 into practice, primarily in what applies to the start of the dialogue on the most important thing, in which Syria the Syrians what to live," the minister said.
