Russia ready for military-technical cooperation with Libya after arms embargo lifted - Russian ambassador to Libya

MOSCOW. Feb 9 (Interfax) - Russia stands ready to engage in military-technical cooperation with Libya after the embargo on supplies of weapons to Libya is lifted, which could happen after the country's territorial integrity is restored and its unified arms forces are set up, Russian Ambassador to Libya Ivan Molotkov said in an interview with Interfax.

"Appropriate conditions should be created in the country - first and foremost, the integrity of the Libyan state should be restored and its unified national armed forces should be created. Only after this happens, it will be possible to speak about the lifting of the arms embargo and the revival of military supplies to Libya," he said.

"Military-technical cooperation was one of the leading avenues of Russian-Libyan interaction under Muammar Gaddafi. We would be ready to continue cooperating with Libya in this sphere, especially as the Libyans themselves are demonstrating their interest in it," the diplomat said.
