Russia to accept Belgrade's decision on Kosovo, expects EU's decision - Lavrov

MOSCOW. Feb 19 (Interfax) - Moscow expects the European Union to act responsibly and facilitate the resolution of the Kosovo problem through dialogue with Belgrade and Pristina, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

"We favor the resolution of all problems between Belgrade and Pristina exclusively through dialogue between them. We expect the European Union to act more responsibly and resolutely as a mediator. We will accept any decision agreed with the leadership in Belgrade and Pristina representatives," Lavrov said in an interview with the Serbian news agency Beta.

"I believe it makes no sense now to talk about Kosovo's seat in the UN. It's already been talked about Kosovo's seat in the European Union. You can talk about Kosovo's seat anywhere. But as long as no agreement acceptable to both Pristina and Belgrade has been reached, UN Security Council Resolution 1244 recognizing the Autonomous Province of Kosovo as part of Serbia remains valid," he said.
