MOSCOW. Feb 19 (Interfax) - Israel is not in favor of the idea of reforming the Quartet on the Middle East, suggested by the Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas, and consider Palestinians' desire to reduce the United States' role in the settlement process to be unrealistic.
"It seems to me that all this will backfire on them [Palestinians]. The ideas they propose will speed up nothing positive," Israeli Ambassador to Russia Gary Koren told journalists in Moscow, responding to a question posed by Interfax.
"Without the Israeli and U.S. participation - and the Palestinians have considerations on what the U.S. place should be - nothing will happen," Koren said.
