MOSCOW. Feb 28 (Interfax) - Terrorists have begun using new methods for organizing their criminal activities and they sometimes act spontaneously, using people who previously never fell into the line of vision of the special services and who do not know each other, which heavily complicates their detection, National Anti-Terrorism Committee (NAC) spokesman Andrei Przhezdomsky said at a press conference on Wednesday.
"Most terrorist attacks are now organized using a different method, using different organizational methods, sometimes even spontaneously," Przhezdomsky said.
"Members of 'dormant cells' often do not know each other before the moment they join the group and have to carry out a terrorist attack," he said.
"Another important thing: most of them never fell into the line of vision of the special services, and these people are totally new, they are dissolved in the total mass. It, if course, is a big and very complex task, and their activities can be stopped thanks to interaction between security agencies, the police and the Russian Guard, with the coordinating role of the operative headquarters in the regions of the Russian Federation and with active assistance from citizens," he said.
The Russian special services are also registering a tendency in accordance with which international terrorists carry out attacks using accessible things, including cars, he said.
"Along with traditional methods for carrying out terrorist attacks, they also tend to use knives, cars, etc.," Przhezdomsky said.
Specifically, such attacks include attacks involving the use of cars and stabbing attacks, he said.
"We intercept a lot of such material, it is clear that the emphasis is on the commission of such terrorist attacks," he said.
