U.S. effectively offers new UNSC president statement on Syria in place of Russian draft - envoy Nebenzya

NEW YORK (UN). March 1 (Interfax) - The U.S. delegation has submitted its own draft document in response to a Russian-proposed draft of the United Nations Security Council president's statement supporting the resolution on a humanitarian pause in Syria, Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya said.

"The Americans have submitted amendments which, in actual fact, have nothing in common with our draft statement," Nebenzya told journalists at the UN headquarters.

"These are not amendments, but, rather, it is a new statement of the president," he said.

Nebenzya said at a UN Security Council meeting on Syria earlier that Russia had circulated its draft of the UN Security Council president's statement.
