MOSCOW. March 7 (Interfax) - Russia welcomes the beginning of an intra-Korean dialogue and expects the agreements reached between Seoul and Pyongyang to be implemented, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Wednesday.
"We welcome the positive trends that have emerged in the intra-Korean dialogue as a result of a special envoy of the South Korean president's visit to Pyongyang on March 5-6; he was received by the North Korean leader," Zakharova said at a press briefing.
Moscow hopes that the agreements reached between Pyongyang and Seoul will be implemented "for the purpose of the further de-escalation of tension surrounding the Korean Peninsula," she said.
"Among other things, they will help establish a direct dialogue between the U.S. and North Korea," Zakharova said.
