Skripal incident being used in anti-Russia campaign - Foreign Ministry

MOSCOW. March 7 (Interfax) - Moscow does not have information about the reasons for the poisoning of former GRU colonel Sergei Skripal, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.

The West is using this situation to intensify its anti-Russia campaign, she said.

"We do not have information on the possible reasons for this story. At the same time, the Skripal situation immediately began to be used to intensify the anti-Russia campaign in the Western media space," Zakharova said at a briefing on Wednesday.

"The standard speculation is being spread even before the situation has been clarified. Moreover, absolutely orchestrated work is clearly seen in this campaign; statements have also been made by British officials," she said.

"Honestly, it's difficult to see this as anything but provocations aimed at complicating the relations between our countries," Zakharova said.
