MINSK. March 14 (Interfax) - Kyiv is seeking an escalation in Donbas and keeps acting in contravention of the relevant UN Security Council resolutions, Russia's representative to the Contact Group for the Ukraine settlement Boris Gryzlov said.
"Like the OSCE, Russia, as a mediator in the resolution of the Donbas conflict, is consistently seeking a meaningful debate over political measures set out in the Minsk accords. I will emphasize once again that a special status for Donbas, as introduced under the Steinmeier formula, and the amnesty are key prerequisites to the conflict's resolution," Gryzlov told reporters following a Contact Group meeting on Wednesday.
He went on to note that the Ukrainian side has not yet presented its stance on the relevant bills that Ukraine has to pass for those prerequisites to be out in place.
"This suggests its eventual intent to resolve the conflict in contravention of the Minsk accords approved by the UN Security Council Resolution, exacerbating the conflict's military component," he said.
"Ukraine's actions are increasingly pushing the republics beyond the limits of the Ukrainian statehood," Gryzlov said.
