Donetsk Filtering Station continues to work as staff gets security guarantees from self-proclaimed DPR, Kyiv

YASYNUVATA (Donetsk region). March 15 (Interfax) - The management of Voda Donbasa, a communal firm, hopes that the patrols of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine will be accompanying workers on their way to and from the Donetsk Filtering Station (DFS) to ensure their security, Voda Donbasa Director Oleg Mokry told reporters on Wednesday.

"The filtering station continues to function. We brought the shift currently on duty with the help from OSCE staff after the DPR [self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic] and Ukraine gave security guarantees. We are hoping that tomorrow the shift will be accompanied by an OSCE patrol and symmetrical patrols will be there to prevent such incidents [involving shelling attacks]." Mokry said.

Mokry also expressed hope that OSCE SMM patrols will accompany DFS employees every time to ensure their security during transportation.

"We hope they will be accompanying every time. Now we are in talks [with the OSCE SMM]. It isn't confirmed yet but we hope it will be," he added.

Currently, a shift consisting of nine employees is on duty at the water treatment plant, performing duties to ensure the plant's maintenance and water supplies to Donetsk, Yasynuvata, Avdiivka and other places, Mokry said.

Earlier this week, the Voda Donbasa management decided to evacuate workers and abandon the Donetsk Filtering Station on March 14 amid constant shelling attacks on transport vehicles carrying its employees.
