MOSCOW. March 15 (Interfax) - The voting on the names of the new Russian weapons that Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about in his annual address will end on the Russian Defense Ministry website on March 16.
"The final stage to select names for the newest Russian weapons has begun on the Russian Defense Ministry website. The Russian Defense Ministry processed and analyzed all offers it has received and selected 50 most popular names for every weapon," the ministry said in its report.
The voting on the website will last until March 16, the ministry said.
Users can choose names from the 50 most popular offers for the combat laser system, a cruise missile with a small nuclear power unit, and an underwater drone, the military said.
"The special service on the Russian Defense Ministry website has now been used by over 870,000 users, of which some one-third are citizens of foreign countries. The visitors have offered over 245,000 names for the newest Russian strategic weapons," the Russian Defense Ministry said.
