HMEIMIM (Syria). March 15 (Interfax) - The humanitarian situation in Eastern Ghouta keeps worsening, and local residents are in need for food and medical assistance, the head of the Russian center for reconciliation of opposing sides in Syria, Maj. Gen. Yury Yevtushenko, said.
"According to eyewitnesses who have left Eastern Ghouta, the humanitarian situation in this enclave has been degrading. The population is in dire need for food and medical assistance, and there are constant disruptions in water and power supply," Yevtushenko said.
"All of these factors are causing an increase in civilian protests against the militants," he said.
