LUHANSK. March 15 (Interfax) - The acting head of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR), Leonid Pasechnik, has proposed establishing an Easter truce along the contact line in Donbas from April 1.
"I call for an Easter truce to be declared starting from the Holy Week, namely from April 1. I appoint LPR envoy [to the Trilateral Contact Group talks] in Minsk Vladislav Deinego to negotiate this issue. I hope that all of the participants in the negotiating process will support the decision on a truce," Pasechnik said in a statement published on the website of the Luhansk information center.
"Regrettably, the 'spring truce', which began on March 5, has not put a stop to provocations on the part of Ukraine," he said.
"However, there is nonetheless hope that such a ceasefire will become permanent," he said.
