MOSCOW. March 15 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will visit the Kazakh capital Astana on March 16 to attend a meeting of the foreign ministers from the guarantor countries of the Astana process aimed at facilitating settlement efforts in Syria.
The guarantor countries of the Astana process are Russia, Iran and Turkey.
The upcoming meeting has been timed to coincide with the first anniversary of the establishment of the Astana format of talks on settling the situation in Syria, the Russian Foreign Ministry's information and press department said in a commentary.
While in Astana, Lavrov is also expected to meet with Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev.
