Russian Foreign Ministry explains UK's moves with domestic political reasons

MOSCOW. March 15 (Interfax) - The situation surrounding the poisoning of former Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU) colonel Sergei Skripal and the UK's subsequent moves against Moscow have domestic political reasons, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said.

"I have no doubt that in case [of UK Prime Minister] Theresa May, this [the Salisbury incident] has domestic reasons. It is possible she wanted to present herself as a strong leader," Zakharova said.

"However, she presented her leadership the way she did," Zakharova said, without giving further comment on May's actions.
