MOSCOW. March 15 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will pay a visit to Japan on March 21 and 22, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a press briefing in Moscow on Thursday.
The talks Lavrov will attend in Tokyo "will be the main stage of preparations for the visit of the Japanese prime minister to Russia planned for May of this year," Zakharova said.
Lavrov will meet with Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono in Tokyo, she said.
"At the talks, the entire range of issues in bilateral cooperation will be addressed, including political, trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian subjects," Zakharova said.
"In addition, the ministers will confer on pressing global affairs, including the situation on the Korean Peninsula and Syria, and cooperation in multilateral formats," she said.
A plan of consultations between the Russian and Japanese foreign ministries in 2018-2019 will be signed at the end of the visit, Zakharova said.
