MOSCOW. March 15 (Interfax) - The kind of "boorish methods" which the West employed in 2014 with respect to Ukraine cannot be used to reach any agreements with Russia, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
In Andrei Kondrashov's film "Putin," which was posted on Dmitry Kiselyov's page on social media, the president said Poland, France, and Germany had been guarantors of the agreement between Ukraine's President Viktor Yanukovych and the opposition. The United States then asked Russia, including the Russian president, to ensure that Yanukovych not use the army, while the U.S., for its part, was supposed to do everything it could to get the opposition to leave squares and occupied buildings. Russia accepted the offer, Putin said.
"We did it. And a coup occurred after a couple of days. And no one said that yes, the situation got out of control, we didn't want it to happen [...] If there are three guarantor countries [...], at least pretend that you want to get everything back in the legal field [....] No. Massive financial, administrative, and political support of the coup began in the blink of an eye. What is that? They decided to talk to us in that manner," Putin said.
Against the background of "rampant nationalism" in Ukraine, the people of Crimea decided to return to Russia, Putin said.
"Our partners should know that it will be impossible to reach any agreements with Russia using such boorish methods," Putin said.
