MOSCOW. March 15 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has called for avoiding confrontation with the West.
"Everything possible must be done in order not to fall into the abyss of confrontation," Lavrov said at the "Russia - Country of Opportunity" forum on Thursday.
"Russia is promoting a positive agenda, which is intended to unite, rather than isolate anyone. This agenda seeks the peaceful settlement of every conflict, be it in Syria, Iraq, Libya, Yemen, the Korean Peninsula, or Ukraine, exclusively on the basis of international law and the UN Charter," Lavrov said.
Russia "is not looking for confrontation with anyone," he said.
"We want to work together with everyone in an honest manner, on the basis of mutual respect and the search for a balance of interests and mutually acceptable solutions," Lavrov said.
