Russia-Turkey-Iran summit in Istanbul on April 4 bound to strengthen coordination in Syria - Lavrov

ASTANA. March 16 (Interfax) - The summit of Russia, Turkey, and Iran scheduled to take place in Istanbul on April 4 will have a positive effect on the Middle East situation, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Friday after he met with the Turkish and Iranian counterparts in Astana.

"We have agreed to prepare for the next summit of three presidents [of Russia, Iran, and Turkey] on April 4, which has a special significance at the current stage and is bound to further strengthen coordination of our efforts towards just peace in Syria. I am sure that after we achieve this goal, it will have a positive influence on the Middle East situation as a whole," Lavrov said.
