BAKU. March 29 (Interfax) - The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry has denied the claims of some media outlets that Baku has rejected Russian weapons as inferior.
"A number of foreign and domestic media outlets have been alleging in recent days that Azerbaijan has rejected Russian weapons. We can officially inform you that these reports are untrue and provocative," a representative of the ministry told Interfax.
Azerbaijan is highly selective when choosing which weapons to buy from manufacturing countries, the representative said.
"We carefully choose the best, highest-quality, and most efficient military products to enhance our combat potential and help us free the occupied territories," the representative said.
The new Russian weapons procured by the Azerbaijani army meet the latter's high requirements for advanced armaments and significantly increase the maneuverability and firepower of Azerbaijani units, especially those stationed on the front line, the representative said.
