Russian, Turkish, Iranian leaders reaffirm determination to ensure ceasefire in Syria - statement

ANKARA. April 4 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani highlighted the need for ensuring a sustainable ceasefire in Syria in a joint statement following negotiations in Ankara.

Putin, Erdogan, and Rouhani "reaffirmed their determination to continue their active cooperation on Syria for the achievement of lasting ceasefire between the conflicting parties and advancement of the political process envisaged by the UN Security Council Resolution 2254," the document available on the Iranian presidential website says.

The statement also highlights the Astana process's major role in settling the situation in Syria.
