LPR reports mortar attack by Ukrainian army

LUHANSK/KYIV. April 5 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian army violated the truce on the Donbas contact line on Thursday, the spokesman for the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) militia, Andrei Marochko, told the press.

"The Ukrainian army fired ten shells from an 82mm mortar on the LPR militia's positions near Dolhe in the Lopaskyne area at 7:45 a.m.," Marochko said.

The militia said earlier that the Ukrainian army had not violated the truce over the past 24 hours.

The self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) reported 15 attacks by the Ukrainian army. "The Ukrainian army violated the truce 15 times over the past 24 hours. Zaitseve, Donetsk (Trudovske), Spartak, Yasynuvata, Kominternove, and Sakhanka came under attack," the DPR's representative to the Joint Center for Control and Coordination (JCCC) told the press, saying the army fired 610 rounds.

For its part, Kyiv reported almost 40 breaches of the Easter truce by the militia.

"Thirty-nine attacks on our positions were observed," the headquarters of the Ukrainian military operation in Donbas said on Facebook on Thursday morning.

Ukrainian positions came under attack by small-arms fire near Stanytsia Luhanska and Donets in the Luhansk sector, the headquarters said.

"No Ukrainian solders were hurt by the hostile gunfire," it said.
