Duma deputy proposes targeted application of SEZ/RDT tax rules to defense plants

MOSCOW. April 5 (Interfax) - The First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Economic Policy Committee, Vladimir Gutenev, has proposed that the tax rules of rapid development territories (RDT) and special economic zones (SEZ) be applied to defense plants.

"We propose that the Economic Development Ministry consider the possibility of applying the tax rules for rapid development territories and special economic zones to defense plants. We believe that the implementation of this proposal would provide defense plants with the additional funds they need by means of reduced revenue and VAT taxes, accelerated depreciation, various customs benefits, and optimized payment of state insurance contributions," Gutenev said at a plenary meeting of the State Duma on Thursday.

Defense plants seeking to sell their new products on foreign markets will need not only the time-tested measures of state support for their certification, approval, and compensation of logistics costs, but also other economic tools, he said.
