Nebenzya on Skripal: UK poisoning Russia's relations with other countries, forcing them to follow bad example

NEW YORK (UN). April 6 (Interfax) - London has harmed Russia's relations with other countries and forced them to follow its bad example in the aftermath of the poisoning of former Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU) colonel Sergei Skripal, Russian Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzya said.

"London has set about poisoning our relations with other countries. A number of the UK's allies have expelled 150 Russian diplomats in a gesture of solidarity. We know that your ambassadors worldwide have been twisting the arms of sovereign countries and forcing them to follow that bad example," Nebenzya said at the UN Security Council's meeting on the Skripal case.

"You have made a wave that has reached New York. Your allies in the United States have performed an unprecedented expulsion of 60 Russian diplomats, including 12 employees of our mission to the UN, without giving any grounds whatsoever or holding consultations with us, as is required by the Headquarters' regulations, in blatant disregard of their responsibilities as the UN Headquarters' host country," Nebenzya said.
