Tajikistan seeks Russia's support to opening of SCO drug control center in Dushanbe

MOSCOW. April 9 (Interfax) - Tajik Foreign Minister Sirodjidin Aslov has said he expects Russia to support the opening of a drug control office of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Tajikistan.

"We have established fruitful cooperation with other countries at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. In this connection, I would like to gain Russia's support to the opening of a SCO drug control center in Dushanbe," Aslov said opening talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

Dushanbe "would do its best to develop mutually advantageous cooperation between member states" during its presidency at the CIS, Aslov said.

"The fact that Tajikistan is presiding at the CIS this year creates additional opportunities for our common efforts towards strengthening the Commonwealth as an important regional and interstate platform," Lavrov said.

"We will provide comprehensive assistance to Dushanbe's presidency at the CIS and will definitely continue our close coordination in other areas," he said.
