Over 3,600 militants, their relatives exit Douma in Syria's E. Ghouta in past 24 hours - Russian Defense Ministry

MOSCOW. April 10 (Interfax-AVN) - More than 3,600 militants of the Jaysh al-Islam group and members of their families have left the town of Douma in Syria's Eastern Ghouta over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Tuesday.

"A total of 3,627 militants and members of their families have exited via a humanitarian corridor through the Muhayam al-Wafedin checkpoint in the past 24 hours," the ministry said.

Seventy buses transported the militants to the north of the Aleppo governorate, it said.

"Their security along the entire route was ensured by Syrian police under the control of officers from the Russian center for reconciliation of the opposing sides. The convoys were accompanied by representatives of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent," it said.
