Lavrov sees no obstacles to OPCW experts' trip to Syria's Douma, as it has been cleared of militants

MOSCOW. April 10 (Interfax) - The Syrian town of Douma has been fully cleared of militants, and therefore, if experts from the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) refuse to visit the scene of a reported chemical attack there for security reasons, this would look inappropriate, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

"Some references to doubts about security would hardly be taken seriously; Douma has been fully cleared of militants, it is controlled by the Syrian government forces, Russian military observers and military police are deployed there, and if there is a need for providing security guarantees to OPCW inspectors, such guarantees will be provided," Lavrov said at a press conference in Moscow on Tuesday.
