MOSCOW. April 10 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has supported the idea of building a synchrotron on Russky Island, Kurchatov Institute National Research Center head Mikhail Kovalchuk said.
"We succeeded today: our proposal emerged absolutely unexpectedly and spontaneously, we formulated it and received support. The president has just announced that we will build a synchrotron at the Far Eastern University on Russky Island," Kovalchuk told journalists after Putin's visit at Kurchatov Institute on Tuesday.
Modern physical facilities will make Russia more competitive on the research market, he said.
