HMEIMIM (Syria). April 12 (Interfax) - More than 41,000 civilians have left the town of Douma and more than 165,000 have exited Eastern Ghouta in Syria since the end of February, Yury Yevtushenko, head of the Russian center for reconciliation of the opposing sides in Syria, said at a press briefing on Wednesday.
"A total of 41,213 people have left the populated locality of Douma since February 28. As many as 165,123 people have exited Eastern Ghouta with the assistance of the Russian center for reconciliation of the opposing sides over the same period," Yevtushenko said.
The Russian military is also taking further measures to help bring the humanitarian situation in other districts of Syria back to normal, he said.
"The populated locality of Al-Baas in the Al-Quneitra governorate hosted a working meeting, at which an agreement on joining the cessation of hostilities was signed with the populated locality of Masharah," he said.
