MOSCOW. April 12 (Interfax) - A Yakovlev Yak-130 plane has crashed in Borisoglebsk in the Voronezh region, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement seen by Interfax-AVN.
"A Yakovlev Yak-130 plane of the training airbase of the Krasnodar Air Force School crashed in Borisoglebsk in the Voronezh region during a training flight at about 9:40 a.m. on April 12, 2018," the statement said.
The instructor and the cadet successfully ejected, landed, and established contact with the airfield, the statement said.
"Their health and life are not in danger. The plane fell in an unpopulated area. There was no damage," it said.
The captain reported to the tower a technical malfunction "of a plane system, hindering further flight."
"An ad hoc commission of the Russian Armed Forces' flight safety service has been set up to clarify the causes and circumstances of the accident," the statement said.
