BAKU. April 12 (Interfax) - Azerbaijan is interested in joining a number of projects as part of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said at a meeting with SCO Secretary General Rashid Alimov on Thursday.
"Azerbaijan is interested in strengthening ties with the SCO and participating in a number of joint projects. Successful bilateral relations with SCO members help create a unified platform for cooperation, and cooperation with these countries is a priority of Azerbaijan's foreign policy," the presidential website quoted Aliyev as saying.
Alimov, for his part, congratulated Aliyev on his victory in Azerbaijan's April 11 presidential election and thanked him for the invitation to monitor them.
The polling stations' work was organized professionally and in line with Azerbaijan's laws, Alimov said.
The voting process was open and transparent, he said.
