MOSCOW. April 12 (Interfax-AVN) - Another 1,500 Jaysh al-Islam militants and members of their families have left the town of Douma in Syria's Eastern Ghouta over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Thursday.

"A total of 1,521 militants and members of their families have exited via the humanitarian corridor through the Muhayam al-Wafedin checkpoint in the past 24 hours," it said.

Forty buses transported the militants and their relatives to the north of the Aleppo governorate, it said.

"Their security along the entire route was ensured by Syrian police under the supervision of officers from the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Opposing Sides. The convoys were accompanied by representatives of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent," the ministry said.
