MOSCOW. April 20 (Interfax) - Pyongyang hopes that the upcoming summit between North Korea and South Korea on April 27 will help solve economic issues, State Duma deputy (Communist Party) Valery Rashkin told Interfax on Friday following a visit to North Korea.
"The [Democratic People's Republic of Korea] DPRK believes that, like any developed country, they should have contacts with other states, and above all with their neighbors. Pyongyang hopes the upcoming summit with South Korea will help sort out economic issues," Rashkin said.
A delegation of the Communist Party of Russia returned from North Korea on Friday.
"During our visit to North Korea, which lasted almost a week, we did not notice any signs of crisis or signs of the country's degradation or underdevelopment," he said.
There is busy traffic and good lighting on the streets, he said, adding that Industrial enterprises are operating.
"The country is following its own path of development. I think that the DPRK's example could prove useful for other countries," Rashkin said.
