MOSCOW. April 20 (Interfax) - The allegation by the United States that Syria has produced and used chemical weapons is aimed exclusively at securing the change of the Syrian regime, Russian Permanent Representative to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OCPW) Alexander Shulgin said.
"The chemical agenda is only a pretext. All that they propose has the only goal, namely to corner the Syrian government and secure the change of the Assad regime," Shulgin said on the NTV television channel, an excerpt from which is posted on its website.
"Simultaneously, they are attacking Russia. They first spoke not very loudly, but the tone they choose has lately been increasingly more aggressive. The Skripals' case has been added to this now," Shulgin said.
