Washington expects Pyongyang to make wise decision - Ambassador Huntsman

VLADIVOSTOK. April 24 (Interfax) - The United States expects North Korea to agree to stop pursuing its nuclear program, which would have a positive effect on the region's economy, U.S. Ambassador to Russia Jon Huntsman said.

"It seems that it is moving on a track that will not end in a war, but will rather end in North Korea making some wise decisions on freezing their [nuclear and missile] programs and ultimately moving towards the denuclearization, which for North Eastern Asia and all of the countries involved in this very important economic region is very good news," Huntsman said to journalists in Vladivostok on Tuesday.

Huntsman said his visit to Vladivostok was not related to preparations for a meeting between the U.S. and North Korean leaders.
