Russian Prosecutor General's Office sends to UK request for legal assistance in case involving killing of Berezovsky's business partner Glushkov (Part 2)

MOSCOW. April 25 (Interfax) - The Russian Prosecutor General's Office has asked its British counterpart for assistance in the investigation into the killing of Boris Berezovsky's business partner Nikolai Glushkov, Alexander Kurennoi, the spokesman for the Russian agency, told Interfax.

"On April 17, the Russian Prosecutor General's Office sent a request for legal assistance in the criminal case involving the killing on the territory of the UK of Russian citizen Nikolai Glushkov in accordance with the 1959 European Convention on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters," Kurennoi said.

The criminal case is being investigated by Russian investigative agencies as a murder case "in connection with the reports that Nikolai Glushkov's body was found in London with indications of a violent death," he said.

"In its request, the Russian investigative body requests the provision of copies of materials of the investigation conducted into this incident by the relevant British authorities, as well as other documents and information relevant to the investigation into the Russian citizen's death," Kurennoi said.

The request for legal assistance was sent to the British authorities on April 23, he said.

Russian businessman Nikolai Glushkov was found strangled in his house in London on March 12.
