MOSCOW. April 26 (Interfax) - The foreign ministers of Russia, Turkey, and Iran will hold a meeting dealing with a settlement in Syria in Moscow on Saturday, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said.
"The foreign ministers of Russia, Iran, and Turkey as the guarantor countries of the Astana process to facilitate a settlement in Syria will have an extraordinary meeting in Moscow on April 28," Zakharova said at a news briefing on Thursday.
"Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov's bilateral meetings with his Iranian and Turkish counterparts are planned on the sidelines of this event," she said.
"The parties will consider the development of the situation in Syria and discuss possible new steps that could help promote intra-Syrian contacts based on UN Security Council Resolution 2254 and taking into account the decisions by the Syrian National Dialogue Congress in Sochi," she said.
"Special significance will be attached to the humanitarian situation in Syria, including in the context of the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2401. We are sure that more active role of humanitarian agencies could facilitate its soonest possible implementation. That said, the provision of assistance to the Syrian people should not be conditioned by the achievement of any political goals," Zakharova said.
