Leaders of two Koreas agree to end state of war - Moon Jae-in (Part 2)

TOKYO. April 27 (Interfax) - South Korea and North Korea have agreed to declare an end to the state of war, South Korean President Moon Jae-in said at a press conference he gave with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

"There will be no more war on the Korean Peninsula," Moon said.

In their joint statement, Moon and Kim vowed to the nation of 80 million and the entire world that there will no longer be war on the Korean Peninsula and that a new era of peace will begin, the Yonhap news agency said.

The leaders said they hope to replace the armistice agreement signed after the Korean War with a peace treaty as early as this year, according to reports.
