DONETSK/KYIV. April 28 (Interfax) - The self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) has seen 17 ceasefire breaches by the Ukrainian army in the past 24 hours, a spokesman for the DPR operative command told reporters on Saturday.
"The Ukrainian army breached the truce 17 times over the day. The army shelled the vicinity of Kruta Balka, Vasylivka, Yasynuvata, Spartak, Donetsk, Petrovske, Novolaspa, Oktyabr, Kominternove, Leninske, Dzerzhinske, and Sakhanka," the spokesman said.
The Ukrainian army fired mortars on the vicinity of the Donetsk water filtering station on Friday morning when a new shift was coming to work.
"The army fired a total of 758 shells," the spokesman said.
In turn, the staff of the Ukrainian army operation in Donbas reported 53 attacks on Ukrainian army positions over the past day.
Three servicemen were injured, the staff said on Facebook on Saturday morning.
The enemy fired 120mm and 82mm mortars, grenade launchers, weapons of infantry combat vehicles, and heavy machineguns on Ukrainian army positions near Krymske in the Luhansk sector, while a 120mm mortar, infantry combat vehicles, and grenade launchers were used against strongholds near Svitlodarsk, the staff said.
In the Donetsk sector, 120mm and 82mm mortars, grenade launchers, heavy machineguns, and small arms were fired on Ukrainian army positions in Vodyane. Also, 120mm mortars were engaged in attacks in the Lybidinske area.
Ukrainian positions near the Butovka mine, Nevelske, Hnutove, Mariinka, Kamyanka, and Pisky repeatedly came under attack of grenade launchers, heavy machineguns, and small arms; weapons of infantry combat vehicles and an anti-tank missile complex were fired near Talakivka, grenade launchers were used near Avdiivka and Bohdanivka, heavy machineguns near Opytne, Verkhnotoretske, Shyrokyne, Pavlopil, and Pyshchevyk, small arms in Avdiivka, Krasnohorivka, Talakivka, and Shyrokyne, and sniper rifles near Mariinka, the staff said.
