Moscow, Ankara, Tehran agree on steps to put Syria peace efforts back on steady track - Lavrov

MOSCOW. April 28 (Interfax) - Russia, Turkey, and Iran have agreed on specific steps that need to be taken to put the peace process in Syria back on a steady track and said they will oppose attempts to undermine their joint efforts, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at a press conference following negotiations with his Turkish and Iranian counterparts.

The recent missile strike upon Syria by the United States, France, and the United Kingdom "has thrown back the efforts toward promoting the political process," he said.

"Nevertheless, today we firmly spoke in favor of continuing these efforts; we agreed upon specific steps that our three countries will be taking both collectively and individually to return all of us on a steady trajectory toward the objectives of UN Security Council Resolution 2254," he said.

"We pointed out that we would be opposing attempts to undermine our joint work and emphasized that the Astana format has both of its feet firmly on the ground," Lavrov said.
