MOSCOW. April 28 (Interfax) - High-ranking UN representatives were present at all meetings in Astana dealing with Syria, and this organization is capable of facilitating the Astana process' efficient development, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Saturday.
"The UN has been invited to take part in the Astana process from the very start, and [UN Special Envoy for Syria] Staffan de Mistura or his deputies were present at all meetings in Astana. And the UN can do a lot now for the Astana process to develop efficiently along all tracks," Lavrov said at a press conference following a trilateral meeting with the Turkish and Iranian foreign ministers.
