MOSCOW. May 3 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov had a telephone conversation with French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian at the latter's initiative on Saturday.
"The ministers discussed in detail the developments in Syria after the United States, the United Kingdom and France had used force there and confirmed assessments of the act voiced by Moscow and Washington," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
"Illegal strikes on Syria on April 14 delivered on the eve of the arrival of OPCW inspectors threw back the negotiating process aiming at political settlement of the Syrian crisis that was elaborated with pain in Astana and Sochi," Lavrov said.
"At the same time, Russian is still open for dialogue with all partners in the interests of a just settlement of the crisis on the basis of the UN Security Council Resolution 2254 that is acceptable for all Syrian groups," the ministry said.
Lavrov informed Le Drian on the main results of the extraordinary meeting of the foreign ministers of Russia, Iran and Turkey, the guarantors of the Astana process for assisting the Syrian settlement that took place in Moscow on April 28," it said.
"The ministers agreed to continue contacts on the Syrian subject," it said.
