MOSCOW. May 3 (Interfax) - Russia would like to have friendly relations with the United States, but not at the cost of Russia's principles and national interests, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
"I hope common sense will take the upper hand in the Washington corridors over time," Lavrov said in an interview with the Italian weekly magazine Panorama.
"We would like to develop normal, predictable and even, if you like, friendly relations with the U.S., but not at the cost of the principles and national interests of Russia," he said.
