Armed Forces to receive Eleron-3 drone systems in May - defense ministry

MOSCOW. May 8 (Interfax-AVN) - Military representative officers in Kazan have begun the technical acceptance of the Eleron-3 Unmanned Aerial Vehicle systems made by Enix, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Monday.

"Under the current government defense contract, the manufacturer will supply 30 [Eleron-3] systems to Russian Defense Ministry units in May," the ministry said in a statement obtained by Interfax-AVN on Monday.

At present serial Eleron-3 drones are fitted with a module with an infrared camera and low-level television camera or a module with a television camera and a thermal camera. Eleron-3 can fly autonomously and on remote control, in fly-by mode or in multiple flyovers above a target point. Return to the start place is automatic. For navigation it uses both GPS and GLONASS, the press release stated.

Eleron-3 is special short-range reconnaissance drone. Its maximum takeoff weight is 5.3 kilograms; payload, up to one kilogram. The drone can develop a speed of up to 130 kilometers per hour and go up to 4,000 meters high.
